Whatcom County Young Democrats Fundraiser!

Whatcom County Young Democrats Fundraiser!

Hey all,

To celebrate Pride month, the Whatcom County Young Democrats will be hosting a fundraiser for the Evergreen AIDS Foundation.

The fundraiser will be on June 18th at 6 pm.  The location is Chuckanut Brewery and Kitchen which is located at 601 w. Holly street in Bellingham.

We will have live music, raffle drawings, and the chance to meet with other members of the community on a beautiful summer night.

The cost is five dollars at the door.  All of the money will be going to Evergreen AIDS.  Food and beer will also be available for purchase.

Please come out for this event to support such a great cause!  We will have representatives from the AIDS foundation speaking, as well as representatives from Whatcom County Democrats as well.  Mayor Pike will also be attending, as well as former representative Kelli Linville.

Hope to see you all there, all ages welcome!

December meeting: Officer Elections

Join us at Rudy’s Pizza at 6pm and help set the future of our Young Democrats chapter.

Help Get out the Vote!

Tuesday, October 26 we will be doing phone banking to help out Democratic candidates.  Meet at Pita Pit in downtown Bellingham at 6pm to carpool to the phone bank location.  Bring a laptop if you have one.  We will be done by 8pm.

With less than 2 weeks to the election, here are some other ways you can help out:

  • Doorbelling in Bellingham for Jean Melious: Saturday Oct. 23. Meet at 10am at the Whatcom Democrats office.
  • Coordinated Campaign phone banking.  Any night of the week stop by the Whatcom Democrats office to help make calls for all our candidates, from Patty Murray and Rick Larsen all the way down the ballot to the local races.

Call the Whatcom Democrats office at 647-7661 to schedule a time for phone banking or for more info.  The office is located at

215 W. Holly Street, Suite B-27

Bellingham, WA 98225

September Meeting

The Whatcom Young Democrats will be meeting on Tuesday, September 21. 6pm at Rudy’s Pizza.

We will be discussing initiatives on the November ballot.

Local conservatives running scared?

Tony Larson has mysteriously declined to participate in any public debates for the 2010 Whatcom County Council race.  The Bellingham City Club was scheduled to have a debate on Sept 22, and the Bellingham Tea Party was planning a debate on Sept 23.

“The prospect of a largely content-free election, based primarily on yard signs and glossy mailers, is depressing”

-Jean Melious

Similarly Vincent Buys, the Republican running against Kelly Linville, is refusing a debate offer.  We’ll have to wait and see if this is coincidence or part of strategy by conservatives of keeping voters uninformed.
