WCYD Bellingham Waterfront platform V1.0

That all beach areas be public property.
That a 100 foot setback exist, with a few exceptions granted on case per case basis
That separate bike lanes on major roads be built that connect to downtown and south bay trail
That there is full easily accessible disclosure on the state of all new development on the waterfront with regards to environmental concerns
That there be a mass transit line to the waterfront from the Bellingham metro station
That there be a a mix of housing built on the waterfront in regards to various income levels
That existing views from downtown be preserved via the street grid system, and building height caps.
That building height be capped at a reasonable level if near the water
That aesthetics be maintained via community standards for all building, with permits for buildings that follow the set standards being fast-tracked.
That room for office space be provided to ensure that well paying jobs be created
That large areas be set aside for parks
That the allowance of liquor licenses be increased for the town of Bellingham so that new waterfront businesses are not competing with existing ones for the previous allotment
That a vibrant nightlife be a goal of the waterfront which will lead economic growth
That there be ample secure bicycle parking
That there be an area for kayak use
