About Us

The Young Democrats of Whatcom County is an organization concerned with promoting civic involvement and activism in our community, especially among young people between the ages of sixteen and thirty-five. We realize that these young people will become the next generation of decision-makers both locally and nationally, and we want to help give them the experience and education necessary to represent their communities effectively.

The Whatcom County Young Democrats is a chartered chapter of the Young Democrats of Washington State, an organization with a history dating back to 1932 when it was founded by Senator Warren G. Magnuson. The goals of the organization, both state-wide and locally, are to get young people involved in the Democratic party, to draw attention to issues of importance in our communities and work to champion them, to promote both community and public service, and to volunteer on the campaigns of Democratic candidates who will carry our concerns to the next level.

We have big plans for our first year, some of which include registering new voters from the high schools and community colleges in the area, getting fun t-shirts printed out, tabling during the Farmers Market, and volunteering on campaigns both locally and at the state level.
